Description

This C.G. Conn New Wonder I silver alto saxophone is in excellent condition with 98%+ of the silver finish. There is some very light player wear across the horn. The left-hand pinky key with the replacement rollers at the top and bottom shows evidence of moisture exposure that is currently dry.  That entire rod is a little bit wavy in the middle. Please see the photos for more details. The serial number is “74354” making this a vintage 1921 instrument. On the back of the body is engraved “PATD. Dec. 8. 1914. 1119954 A 74354 L”. The engraved letter “L” below the serial number denotes that the horn is in Low Pitch. Until the mid-1940s, Conn made both high, and low-pitched horns. A few other features of this horn include split bell keys, wire key guards, mother-of-pearl rollers, and rolled tone holes! Two of the rollers are replacements in black plastic instead of mother of pearl. The engraving on the bell is incredibly ornate with swirling leaves and flowers and reads “Made by C.G. Conn LTD. Elkhart Ind.” This horn comes with the original neck micro tuner neck and original neck plug. The neck is in great shape with no evidence of a pull-down. The saxophone comes in the original case which is in older used condition and has a broken middle latch. A mouthpiece is not included.
