Description

This Bach 36G F trigger trombone is a great professional trombone. It has just come back from the shop where it was overhauled and is in fantastic playing condition! The finish to this horn has approximately 98%+ remaining with approximiately 98% of the silver/nickel slide finish. The bell is gold brass instead of the traditional yellow brass giving it a great look! On the main tuning slide you can feel where there must have been a few dents removed that are too small to see but are better felt. The inside wrap has some visible re-solder points from the overhaul the horn received. Please see pictures. The serial number is “6421” making this a 1963-1965 vintage horn. The engraving on the bell reads “Stradivarius Model 36G Vincent Bach Elkhart, In USA” and “Model 36” below the serial number on the slide. It comes in the original Bach case which is still in good condition. No mouthpiece is included.

The Bach 36 trombone features an 8″ one-piece hand-hammered gold brass professional bell that offers a subtle brilliance with a complex color. The .525″ medium bore combined with the traditional wrap F attachment offers outstanding clarity and balanced response with just the right amount of resistance. The chrome plated nickel silver inner hand slide tubes provide the ideal surface for smooth and quick hand slide action. The clear lacquer finish adds a subtle warmth to the sound overall. The Bach Stradivarius 36 professional trombone is ideal for both symphonic and solo performance. This is the archetype for a great medium bore professional trombone. Most every instrument of this style and bore can be compared to, or traced back to, the Bach 36. The Bach 36 uses many of the same parts as the larger symphonic-sized model 42, but the slide tubes are a medium .525″ bore, and the bell flare is cut at an 8″ diameter instead of 8.5″. That makes this a fairly big sounding medium bore trombone. Some recording players say that the Bach 36 records with a sound similar to the larger bore Conn 88H. A student who prefers an easier playing horn that does not require as large a volume of air a large bore horn does may prefer to use a Bach 36 in wind bands and jazz bands as well.

This is a fantastic playing trombone!  It has a super slick slide and the trigger works fantastically.  The trigger is super quiet and fast.  For a smaller bore instrument it has a very big dark sound like you might expect to hear from a Bach 42.  The horn plays very well in tune and it has solid overtones.  This is a great small shank pro line horn!
