Description

This Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone is in fantastic condition with 95-99% of the original lacquer and very light player wear across the entire saxophone. It has just come from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted and re-padded so it not only looks amazing but plays amazing as well. There is some very minor light player wear on the palm keys and the octave key. Please see the photos for more details. This saxophone has almost no dents, dings and no evidence of major repairs. The serial number is “M95326” making this a 1961 vintage tenor saxophone. Above the serial number is engraved “Made in France Brev. S.G.D.G. 920653  U.S. PAT. 2940640 U.S. PAT. 2710558 U.S. PAT. 2846917”. The engraving on the bell is gorgeous and super crisp and reads “Henri Selmer Paris” engraved in laurel leaves and “Selmer New-York, Elkhart London Made in France” with the R trademark sign. Scrolling leaves surround the engraving and go down and around the bell. It has “Mark VI” engraved on the bottom bell ring.  This tenor saxophone comes with the original “H. Selmer Paris” neck with the Selmer “S” on the octave key in good condition and has no evidence of pulldown. The neck has the matching serial number making it original to this horn. It also comes in a good used Selmer case. No mouthpiece is included.

Selmer’s Balanced Actions, Super Balanced Actions and Mark VI’s are the Stradivarius of saxophones. At the end of the day deciding which to buy is a little like picking between a Lamborghini or a Ferrari. It is really a matter of preference. For this particular horn, we can tell you that it has that rich, dark, iconic Selmer sound. These are not Yamahas that are cranked out; each saxophone has its own character and presence that is almost impossible to describe on paper. It has to be heard; it has to be felt. Check out the video below to hear this saxophone!
