A beautiful 1958 vintage Mark VI with 90% of the original silver plating and a wonderful sound. Check it out in the demo video below.

Description

This Selmer Mark VI silver tenor saxophone is in excellent condition with 85-90% of the original silver plating and light player wear across the saxophone. It has just come from the shop where it was cleaned, and adjusted.  Some pads were replaced as well so all in all it plays wonderfully. There are a few little minor dings in the bow that are almost impossible to see but you can feel them. There is also a small ding below the thumb hook. There is light plating wear across the saxophone, the most notable on the top front of the body and back of the bell.  There are a few replacement screws on the keyguards. Please see the pictures for more details. The serial number is “M.76955” making this a 1958 vintage tenor saxophone. Above the serial number has the engraved words “Made in France Brev- SGDG- 920653 ENG. PAT. 632799 US. PAT. 2940640 US. PAT. 2710558”. The engraving on the bell is beautiful and crisp.  The words “Brevete France & Etranger” are engraved at the top of the bell followed by “Henri Selmer Paris” engraved in laurel leaves with “Fabrique en France par H. Selmer & Cie Place Dancourt, Paris Selmer New-York. Elkhart London Made in France” with the R trademark sign. This tenor saxophone comes with the original “H. Selmer Paris” neck in fantastic condition and there is no evidence of a pulldown. It comes with a good, used condition case. No mouthpiece is included.

Selmer’s Balanced Actions, Super Balanced Actions, and Mark VI’s are the Stradivarius of saxophones. At the end of the day deciding which to buy is a little like picking between a Lamborghini or a Ferrari. It is really a matter of preference. For this particular horn, we can tell you that it has that rich, dark, iconic Selmer sound. These are not Yamahas that are cranked out; each saxophone has its own character and presence that is almost impossible to describe on paper. It has to be heard; it has to be felt. Check out the video below to hear this saxophone.
