Description

This Selmer Mark VI silver tenor saxophone is in mint condition with 99%+ of the re-silver plated finish remaining. It has just come from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted, and re-padded so it plays wonderfully. The serial number is “M156525” making this a 1968 vintage tenor saxophone. Above the serial number has the engraved words “Made in France Brev. SGDG. 920653 US. PAT. 2940640 US. PAT. 2710558 US. PAT. 2846917”. The engraving on the bell is beautiful and crisp. Engraved at the top of the bell is “Henri Selmer Paris” engraved in laurel leaves with “Selmer Made in France” with the R trademark sign.  Engraved where the bell meets the bow is “Mark VI”. This tenor saxophone comes with the original “H. Selmer Paris” neck in fantastic condition and there is no evidence of a pull-down. It comes with a good used condition case. No mouthpiece is included.

Selmer’s Balanced Actions, Super Balanced Actions, and Mark VI’s are the Stradivarius of saxophones. At the end of the day deciding which to buy is a little like picking between a Lamborghini or a Ferrari. It is really a matter of preference. These are not Yamahas that are cranked out; each saxophone has its own character and presence that is almost impossible to describe on paper. Check out the video below to hear this saxophone.
