This Martin “The Martin” Alto Saxophone Serial #186223 is in excellent condition with around 90% of the original lacquer and light speckle wear across the horn. It has just come from the shop where it was cleaned and adjusted so it plays great. The pads on this alto saxophone are a mix of old and new, but they are all in good condition. It also has the signature tapered Martin cut tone holes, adjustable right-hand thumb hook, heart-shaped left-hand thumb rest and a matching neck plug. There is light player wear to the touch spots and the keys along with two little dings in the bow. Please see the photos for more details. The serial number is 186223 making this a 1953-54 vintage alto saxophone. The serial number can be found on both the back of the body and the neck. Below the serial number is a list of different patent numbers. The engraving on the bell is gorgeous and runs down the entirety of the bell and onto the front of the bow with the words “The Martin Alto Elkhart, IND-USA’ displayed prominently.  This alto saxophone comes with the original “Button Lock” neck that has no evidence of a pull down. It also comes in the original Martin case in fair used condition. A mouthpiece is not included. This alto saxophone has the iconic, big, fat Martin sound. It has a beautiful resonance in both the lower and upper registers with crisp intonation.
