This Martin The Martin alto saxophone is in very good condition with 80-85% of the original lacquer remaining. These are sometimes called Martin Committee III. It has just come from the shop where it was cleaned and adjusted, so it plays great. The pads are a mixture of older and newer but all are in good condition. The horn has the signature tapered Martin beveled tone holes and an adjustable thumb rest. There is evidence that this horn has had some dents taken out of the bow and the body as well as braces re-soldered. Currently it is in great shape. There is some uneven lacquer wear across the horn, mostly on the bow, back of the body, and touch spots due to dent removal. Please see the photos for more details. The serial number is “166996” making this a 1948 vintage horn. The serial number can be found on both the back of the body and the neck. The engraving is gorgeous and runs down the entirety of the bell and onto the front of the bow. The words “The Martin Alto. Elkhart-IND-USA-” are featured prominently on the bell. This horn comes with the original “button lock” neck that shows no evidence of pull down. Button lock necks were made only for Martin’s pro-line horns. This saxophone comes in a very good used replacement case. A mouthpiece is not included. This alto saxophone has that iconic big, vibrant, Martin sound. It really sings, plays easily up and down the register and has great intonation.

The Neck: The neck has approximately 80-85% of the finish remaining with light general wear (possible surface scratches and/or minor dents/dings).
The Mouthpiece: No mouthpiece, ligature, or accessories are included.
The Case: Good used condition (General wear with some edge wear and visible surface scratches).
