Description
This Martin Handcraft Committee tenor saxophone with Art Deco skyline engraving has 55-60% of the original lacquer and 60-65% of the silver key plating. The overall physical condition of this horn is very good. It has a nice straight body with almost no bow dents. One of the key guards has a replacement part and has been re-soldered. Please see the pictures for more details. The point where the bell key guard attaches to the body is lifting but not detached from the body. Please see the pictures for more details. The bell-to-body brace has been re-soldered on the body side and has been slightly pushed into the back of the bell. This Martin saxophone has wire key guards. The engraving is still very sharp and reads “Martin Handcraft Elkhart-Ind. -U-S-A-”. This has the art deco skyline search light engraving. “Martin” is engraved above the serial number and “Low Pitch” is below the serial number. The serial number reads “116611” making this a vintage 1936 saxophone. The neck cork has been replaced and has light general player wear across the neck. The brace to the neck tenon has also been re-soldered and is starting to separate. This may need to be re-soldered again. Please see the pictures for more details. The neck does have the matching serial number to the saxophone making it the original neck. The original case is in older, used condition. No mouthpiece included. This Martin model plays with that great mellow sound. It plays very well all the way up and down the register.
