This Martin Handcraft Alto Saxophone Serial #124172 is in excellent condition with 95% or more of the original lacquer and the famous “Searchlight” engraving on the bell. It has just come from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted and re padded so it plays great. This alto saxophone has the signature Martin tapered cut tone holes, adjustable right-hand thumb hook, and heart-shaped left-hand thumb rest.  There are two little spots of lacquer wear on the bow and one on the neck along with some player wear to the touch spots of the keys. There are no dings or dents in the saxophone. Please see the photos for more details. The serial number is 124172 making this a 1937-38 vintage alto saxophone. The serial number can be found on both the back of the body and the neck. Above the serial number on the body the word “Martin” is engraved and below the serial number are the words “Low Pitch”.  The engraving on the bell is gorgeous. It runs down the entirety of the bell and onto the front of the bow with the words “Martin Handcraft Elkhart, IND-USA’ above the iconic engraving of searchlights.  This alto saxophone comes with the original neck that has no evidence of a pull down.  It also comes in a replacement case in good condition. A mouthpiece is not included. This alto saxophone has a classic Martin sound. Big and warm resonance in both the lower and upper registers with smooth intonation.
