1961-1962 Vintage transitional Zephyr Series II with 85% of the original lacquer and a sleeve-style neck. Known for great action and a super dark mellow sound, this horn has excellent overtones.

Description

This King Zephyr tenor saxophone has 80-85% of the original lacquer with even wear throughout the horn. There is also 80-85% of the finish on the silver plated keys remaining with medium player wear touch spots. The bell-to-body brace has been re-soldered on the body side and a couple of the key guard feet have been re-soldered. There is some very light lacquer burning on one of the feet for the leg guard on the body side. There are multiple replacement screws for key guards. Please see the pictures for details. The serial number is “379538” making this a vintage 1961-1962 Zephyr Series II saxophone. The engraving on the bell reads “King Zephyr Made by the H.N. White Co. Cleveland Ohio”. The sleeve-style neck is original and in very good condition with only light player wear. The case is original and in good condition. No mouthpiece included. There is a silver neck plug that is included. The Zephyrs of this vintage have increased in popularity, specifically the Zephyrs with the sleeve style necks. These are about as close as you can get to the Super 20s without the Super 20 price tag. Known for great action and a super dark mellow sound, this horn has excellent overtones.

The Key Plating: Approximately 80-85% of the original key plating remains with medium player wear to the touch spots.
The Finish: It has approximately 80-85% of the lacquered finish.
Player Wear: Light general wear (possible surface scratches and/or minor dents/dings).
The Bell: No dents or evidence of bell edge damage.
The Bow: No dents in the bottom bow or bow guard.
Pad Condition: The pads are in a combination of newer and older used conditions.
Resonator Type: Combination of metal resonators and rivets.
The Neck: The neck has approximately 65-70% of the finish remaining with light general wear (possible surface scratches and/or minor dents/dings).
The Mouthpiece: No mouthpiece, ligature, or accessories are included. A good used silver neck plug is included.
The Case: Good used condition (General wear with some edge wear and visible surface scratches).
Engraving: King Zephyr Made by the H.N. White Co. Cleveland Ohio (on the bell).
