1939-1940 Vintage Zephyr Series I alto saxophone, beautifully engraved, with 90-95% of the original lacquer and a double socket/sleeve style neck.

Description

This King Zephyr alto saxophone with Art Deco engraving is in fantastic condition with 80-85% of the original lacquer. There is some lacquer crazing on the horn particularly on the bottom bow. It has just come back from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted and completely re-padded. There is evidence that a few dents were taken out of the bell and evidence of bell lip pull down removal. There is a nearly invisible dent in the back of the bell where the bell to body brace has been very slightly pushed in.  On the bottom bow there is evidence of dent removal as well mostly on the leg side. This alto saxophone has the triple neck ring, a signature of the King Zephyr models. The serial number is “229856” making this a Zephyr Series I 1939-1940 vintage saxophone. The art deco engraving on the bell is gorgeous and super crisp. The engraving goes all the way down the bell and the words “King Zephyr Model made by The H.N. White Co. Cleveland Ohio” are prominently displayed on the bell. This horn comes with the original double socket/sleeve style neck with the matching serial number. The neck has had pull down repair done as you can feel the surface imperfections along the sides of the neck and the neck tenon has been re-soldered. The inner sleeve of the neck is slightly out of round but does still fit into the horn without any issue. It comes in a good used replacement case and no mouthpiece is included. The original neck plug is included. This alto saxophone has that classic King Zephyr feel. It has a big, focused sound, excellent intonation, and superb overtones.
