Description
This King Zephyr Series I alto saxophone is in excellent condition. It has a re-lacquered body, with the original silver keys and original lacquer neck. It has been cleaned, adjusted, and re-padded. There are a few very minor dings in the bottom bow and the bottom thumb rest has been pushed in slightly. This is a gorgeous horn and it plays beautifully! The serial number is “173355” making this a Zephyr Series I circa 1935-1940 vintage horn. The Art Deco engraving on the bell is gorgeous and super crisp. The engraving goes all the way down the bell and the words “King Zephyr Model made by The H.N. White Co. Cleveland, O.” are prominently displayed near the top of the bell. This horn comes with the original neck (with matching serial number), which is in great shape with no evidence of a pulldown. There are a couple of very light dents in the neck, one in the side of the neck and the other at the octave saddle and the bottom octave key guide. It comes in a replacement case in good used condition. No mouthpiece is included. If you would like to purchase a mouthpiece please visit our mouthpiece page for vintage and modern mouthpieces.
This alto saxophone has that classic King Zephyr feel. It has a big, focused sound, excellent intonation, and superb overtones.
