Description
This King Super 20 alto saxophone with the original sterling silver neck is in very good condition with around 70-75% of the original lacquer and medium player wear across the horn. Most of the wear to the finish is on the leg side of the horn from the bottom bow to the bell and up the body. It has just come back from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted and completely re-padded so it plays great. There is one brace on the leg guard where you can see when it was re-soldered that it was slightly off from the original placement. There are some small dimples in a few of the bottom most keys that are simply cosmetic. Please note that it has no effect on how the horn plays but that they are here. There are silver accents on the palm and pinkie keys and they have approximately 50-55% of their finish remaining. The serial number is “406289” making this a Super 20 Series IV 1965 vintage saxophone. The engraving on the bell is gorgeous, swirling leaves and flowers all down the bell and the words “King Super 20 The H.N. White Co. Cleveland-O.” prominently displayed. Also, note the engraved bell keys. This horn comes with the original sterling silver neck, which is still in great condition and has no evidence of pulldown with some wear to the silver sterling finish. It comes in a new case. No mouthpiece is included. If you would like to purchase a mouthpiece please visit our mouthpiece page for vintage and modern mouthpieces.
This alto saxophone has that classic Super 20’s sound with a powerful, crisp voice and warm overtones. The Super 20’s are some of the most sought after saxophones; they just have a super clean and clear tone that everyone loves.
