Description
This King New Voll-True alto saxophone is in excellent condition with 95% or more of the original lacquer and light player wear across the body. The silver plating on the keys is 90% or more. It has just come back from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted, and repadded and it plays great! There is one medium dent in the bow on the leg side of the bow guard and on the facing side there are a couple of very small dings in the bow. The bottom thumb rest has been pushed in ever so slightly and the post to the right of the bottom thumb rest is also slightly pushed in. There is a small dent in the body about halfway up the back of the horn and a very minor ding in the bell that is easier felt than seen. Otherwise, this horn is in fantastic condition. The serial number is “145361” making this a “New Voll-True” also known as the “Voll-True II” circa 1932-33. On the back of the body is engraved “NO1.549.911 PAT’D 8-18-25” above the serial number. The engraving on the bell is gorgeous and super crisp. With scrolling leaves and flowers there are also the words “New Voll-True King made by The H.N. White Co. Cleveland-O.”. This horn comes with the original neck with matching serial number, which is in great shape with no evidence of a pulldown. It comes in a very good used replacement case. No mouthpiece is included. If you would like to purchase a mouthpiece, please visit our mouthpiece page for vintage and modern mouthpieces.
This alto saxophone has that classic King sound, big and warm while still focused. It plays easily up and down the register with excellent intonation and gorgeous overtones.
