Description
This Holton Collegiate 3 valve F bell front alto horn is in good condition with 75-80% of the lacquered finish remaining. There is a dent in the bell just under the engraving and the bell edge does have a little bit of a wave to it. The main tuning slide crook has some dings and is currently stuck inside the Eb tuning slide extenders. This means the horn currently plays in Eb and will until the main tuning slide can be pulled. Please see pictures. The serial number is “377522” making this a vintage 1964 horn. The engraving on the bell reads “Collegiate by Holton Elkhorn, Wis. U.S.A.”. It has its original Collegiate by Holton mouthpiece included in good used condition. It comes with its Eb tuning slide extenders so you can play in Eb as well as F. It comes in the original case in good used condition. The case does have some letters painted on it. This is a great playing little alto horn! The horn plays well and the valves are nice and quick. It plays with a nice big sound and really opens up in the upper register.

Valve Condition: All the valves are in good working condition and all of the tuning slides are loose. Please note that the main tuning slide is stuck in the Eb tuning slide extenders and will need to be pulled before it is able to be played in F.
Lead Pipe Condition: Very light general wear (minor if any surface imperfections).
Outside Body Bow Condition: Light general wear (possible surface scratches and/or minor dents/dings).
The Bell: Minor dents and dings and minor bell edge damage.
The Bottom Bow: Very light general wear (minor if any surface imperfections).
Bell Diameter Approximately: 8 inches.
The Mouthpiece: A good used Collegiate by Holton mouthpiece is included.
The Case: Good used condition (general wear with some edge wear and visible surface scratches).
Engraving: Collegiate by Holton Elkhorn, Wis. U.S.A. (on the bell) Collegiate-By-Holton.Elkhorn, Wis. (on the mouthpiece).
