Description
Made in Germany or Bohemia, circa 1880-1900.
This is a full size Caspar da Salo model with fancy double purfling, lightly figured one piece slab cut back. It has the original honey golden brown varnish with newer ebony fittings. There is no damage or repairs to the wood and no grain cracks or visible cleats but, only a few minor varnish wear marks near the high side F hole (see pictures.)
The double purfling opens the body of this instrument and gives it a very nice deep resonant tone with wonderful overtones. When you draw down your bow on this one it really comes to life. It comes with the original case in older condition.
