This C.G. Conn Victor New Wonder silver cornet is in excellent condition. It has been completely gone over and has around 90% of the original silver plating with some light player wear over the entire horn. The serial number is 182511 which makes a 1921 vintage horn. The braces for the stopper rod on the main tuning slide show signs of re-soldering as well as the main tuning slide water key hole. Notice the micro-tuning mechanism or opera glass tuning device just forward of the first valve. Also notice the “mechanism” attached to the first and third slides. This automatically adjusts all slides when the main tuning slide is pulled out to A. Below the serial number on the second valve casing the word “Patented” is engraved with a star above the serial number. Notice the patented Victor style tuning mechanism on the main tuning slide. Engraving on the bell with flowers and leaves entwining around it is circle where the words “Victor New Wonder C.G. Conn LTD Elkhart Ind.” are engraved. It comes in the original C.G. Conn case which is still in good condition. It also comes with the original “Conn Model” gold plated mouthpiece. The cornet also comes with additional set of tuning slides.
This cornet plays wonderfully from top to bottom! It has a beautiful pure tone that has a great resonance to it. The valves have really good action. The instrument feels good in your hands and you can push it to the limits dynamically without losing your quality of sound. This is a really wonderful 100 year old horn!
