Description

This C.G. Conn Victor New Wonder silver cornet is in excellent condition. It has 90%+ of the original silver plating with 95%+ of the gold wash bell remaining.  The horn has some light player wear over the entire horn. The braces for the stopper rod on the main tuning slide show signs of re-soldering as well as the main tuning slide water key hole. Please see pictures for details. The serial number is “182511” which makes this a 1921 vintage horn.  Please note the micro-tuning mechanism or opera glass tuning device just forward of the first valve and the “mechanism” attached to the first and third slides. This automatically adjusts all slides when the main tuning slide is pulled out to A. There is a patented Victor style tuning mechanism on the main tuning slide. Below the serial number on the second valve casing the word “Patented” is engraved with a star above the serial number. Engraving on the bell with flowers and leaves entwining around it is circle where the words “Victor New Wonder C.G. Conn LTD Elkhart Ind.”.  It comes in the original C.G. Conn case which is still in good condition. It also comes with the originalConn Model” gold plated mouthpiece.  The cornet also comes with additional set of tuning slides.  This cornet plays wonderfully from top to bottom! It has a beautiful pure tone that has a great resonance to it.  The valves have really good action.  The instrument feels good in your hands and you can push it to the limits dynamically without losing your quality of sound.  This is a really wonderful 100 year old horn!
