Description

This C.G. Conn New Wonder Virtuoso Deluxe gold plated alto saxophone is in excellent condition with 90-95% of the original gold plating. There is some light player wear across the horn, mostly on the touch spots for the left hand palm keys with one little spot of wear on the bow guard. There is a very small ding in the leg side of the bottom bow just down from the body post. There is a sign of an extremely small ding in the very back of the bell that had been removed that is better felt than seen. Please see the photos for more details. It has just come back from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted, and re-padded. The serial number is “109314” making this a vintage 1923 instrument. On the back of the body is engraved “Patd. Dec. 8. 1914. 1119954 A 109314 L”. The engraved letter “L” below the serial number denotes that the horn is in low pitch. Until the mid-1940’s, Conn made both high, and low-pitched horns. A few other features of this horn include Virtuoso Deluxe pearl side keys and G# key, split bell keys, wire key guards, mother of pearl rollers and rolled tone holes. The engravings on the entire instrument are incredibly ornate with swirling leavings and flowers along with angels and trumpets and an eagle. The words on the bell read “Made by C.G. Conn Ltd. Elkhart Ind. U.S.A”. The engraving is a work of art in and of itself with the engraving wrapping around the entire bell, bow and all the way up the body. This horn comes with the original neck micro tuner neck and original neck plug. The neck is in great shape with no evidence of a pull down. It also comes in a new replacement case. A mouthpiece is not included.
