C.G. Conn Connqueror 26M VIII Alto Saxophone with Naked Lady 1937 Serial #279868

1937 Rare vintage saxophone with a double socket/sleeve style neck.

This C.G. Conn Connqueror 26M VIII alto saxophone is in excellent condition with 90-95% of the original lacquer and light player wear across the horn. It has just come back from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted, and had multiple pads replaced. There is a super tiny ding that is easier felt than seen on the bell right after the Elkhart, IND on the engraving and the bottom thumb rest is just slightly pushed in. There is evidence that a dent was taken out of the back of the body and a key guard was re soldered. Please see the pictures for more details. The serial number is “279868” makes this a vintage 1937 instrument. Engraved on the back of the body is “26M VIII PAT. APP’D For A 279868 L”. The engraved letter “L” below the serial number denotes that the horn is in low pitch. Until the mid-1940’s, Conn made both high, and low pitched horns. This horn has rolled tone holes, mother of pearl rollers, wire key guards and silver accented key work. The engraving on the bell is beautiful with a full bust Naked Lady engraving and the words “Connqueror Made-by C.G. Conn Ltd. Elkhart-Ind. U.S.A.” This horn comes with the original micro tuner, double socket/sleeve style neck with “VIII” engraved on it. The neck is in great shape with no evidence of a pull down. The neck does have a couple of extremely minor dings.  The neck does have slightly more lacquer wear than the rest of the horn, approximately 85-90% original. It comes in a new replacement case. A mouthpiece is not included. This alto has a really big, warm sound with great intonation and plays easily up and down the register.
